The Sign-In Option Is Disabled Because of Failed Login Attempts in Windows – Fix PIN Error
If you tried signing in to your Windows
computer multiple times with the wrong password, then you may have seen this
message ““The sign-in option is disabled because of failed login attempts.
Please use another sign-in option or try again later.” This is a Windows
built-in security feature which prevents you from unauthorized access. Here are
some steps to resolve this issue.
* Let your PC idle for 15–30 minutes and then try again waiting must.
* If you remember your password or key then you can sign in.
Step:2 Sign In with Password or Another Method:
* On the login screen, click Sign-in options.
* Select Password or key.
* Sign in using the alternative method and reset your PIN from Settings then Accounts then Sign-in options.
Step:3 Reset Your PIN:
* At the sign in screen, you select the option I forgot my PIN.
* Sign in with your Microsoft account password.
* Follow the prompts to create a new PIN.
Step:4 Adjust Account Lockout Policy:
* Press Windows + R, type secpol.msc
, and then press Enter.
* Navigate to Account Policies then Account Lockout Policy.
* Change Account lockout threshold.
* You adjust Lockout duration and then Reset account lockout counter after according to your requirements.
Step:5 Use Safe Mode to Regain Access:
* Restart your PC and then press F8 or hold Shift while clicking Restart.
* Go to Troubleshoot then Advanced options go to Startup Settings and choose Safe Mode.
* Sign in from using your password and then reset your PIN from the Settings
